Peacock Writers donate their time and stories willingly to benefit charity. A different theme is picked each time and authors invited to join in. Linn Reights explains her reasons for doing this

Being a part of a writing group like The Peacock Writes has truly been a blessing for me. I have been privileged to work alongside a wonderful group of writers that possess the kind of hearts that seek to give an everlasting good. Again, I am honored to be a part of the Blessing that is known as The Peacock Writes!
This season’s theme Spring Time Bullies, reminded me of the experience I had with two girls that made the decision to bully me. I was 12 years old, trying to figure out who I was and how I fit into the crazy wilderness called Middle School. These young girls turned my bus ride to and from school into a living nightmare. They called me names, threw things into my seat and laughed at me for no reason at all. Later that year these same two young girls presented me with a challenge and if I completed the challenge then they would be my friends. All day long my mind and spirit was torched with which decision would be the right one. Do I say “No,” and then risk being tormented for the rest of the school year or, do I say “Yes,” and risk losing my self-respect. Luckily for me I had a mother that blessed me with the ability to adapt in adversities. My mother explained to me that friendships are built not bought. So when the two young girls confronted me again the next day, my answer was “No.” I may not have gained two friends that day but I ended up with something much more valuable, a lesson in Emotional Intelligence.
A Bully Burger Name Zachary, is about a little boy name Denis that finds himself being bullied by another little boy in his class room. Denis is teased and made fun of until one day he finds a magical coin. One wish and everything in Denis’s world changes, even the way Denis views the little boy that bullies him. I created this story because I believe that there are some bullies that are victims themselves. Some bullies come from families where everyone is angry and shouting all the time. Therefore being angry, calling names, and pushing people around would be seen as normal behavior. These types of children are merely copying what they've seen someone else do. It is my belief that if we teach children strategies that help manage emotions bullying and other emotional driven issues would start to lose their stronghold.
