The Second in our series spotlighting authors who have contributed to our current collection. Our collection, this time around is Springtime Bullies.
We asked Paula Shene, long time author, why she decided to put in a story for the Peacock's newest anthology,
Springtime Bullies.
Here Are My Reasons:
I have told or acted out stories from childhood ~ a long, long time ago. I fortunately was blessed with three sons who carried forth the tradition in one form or another.
The stories from The Chronicles of The K-9 boys and girls were used to calm fears in my youngest granddaughter that developed from the divorce of her parents. My granddaughter would spend time with our female beagle as they walked the yard, and as she told Mandy her troubles, the dog would stop and appear to listen and respond with nods. Mandy had been a puppy mill dog and was a biter, but these two unlikely girls formed a tight bond helping both to grow into their potential.
The story, A Fistful of Bullies was based on an incident involving my youngest grandson. He was six years old and was attacked by three older boys, two - ten years old and a twelve year old. The situation was more dire than depicted in the story. My grandson was rushed to the hospital where the problem took a specialist and twelve hours to resolve.
